Post Easter Greeting – A Message of Hope

This is a post- Easter greeting to let you know I’m thinking of you and wishing you all the best for today and the days to come. If you are a Christian, you may have “gone to church” via livestream, like I did. If not, you may have simply spent the day resting, relaxing, washing your hands and keeping your distance. Not much else to do. Oh, yes, and eating healthy foods.

Since my Monday Motivational post is usually a faith-filled one, and since Easter has just passed, I thought I would write something about what Easter means to us Christians. Easter Sunday is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ –His triumph over death. Why do we celebrate this event?

  1. Because it is unprecedented in human history. No one else has risen from the grave. Many doubt it ever happened. The apostle Paul explains it this way: “And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain” (1 Corinthians 15: 14).
  2. It is the keystone of the Christian faith. The resurrection assures that because Christ rose from the dead, we too will one day rise to join Him. We won’t have to contend with sickness or death or sorrow of any kind. Isn’t that worth hoping for? Read verses 35 – 49 of the same chapter.
  3. The resurrection gives us hope. One line of a popular hymn goes like this: Because He lives, I can face tomorrow; because He lives, all fear is gone. During this pandemic, when people are fearful and confused about what the future may hold, we can have the blessed hope that God is on our side, come what may. Therefore, we will not be afraid.

One Small Step

“One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” If you were not born yet when Neil Armstrong uttered those oh-so-famous words, you have probably heard them again and again. That one small step -landing on the moon – paved the way for so many great things to be accomplished. If ever there was cause to be afraid of the unknown, that moment was it. But Neil Armstrong took that one small step and the rest, as we say, is history.

Speaking of the mission in Houston in 1962, President John F. Kennedy said, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” Starting an exercise program is not as hard as landing on the moon, at least it shouldn’t be, but it requires effort, determination and consistency.
