Ever watch a child playing with her toys? My granddaughter doesn’t play with dolls anymore, but she has stuffed toys that she keeps on her bed all the time. And if she has to choose one to cuddle, she always seems to pick the same one. For some reason, that toy has value to her.
With Christmas just nine days away, our thoughts, and our feet, head in the direction of finding the best gifts for those we love, and we, in turn, look forward in eager anticipation to see what will be under the tree for us come Christmas morning. Maybe we equate our self-worth with the gift we are given. After all, if someone values us highly, why would they give us a card or a cheap bottle of cologne? We deserve more, don’t we?
Well, I know Someone who thinks you are worth the best He had to give. God thinks so highly of you, loves you so much, values you so much, that He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for you. He gave you His most priceless gift. Will you accept it today? Because without Jesus, you are lost in your sin. No gift under the Christmas tree can redeem you from sin. No matter how you see yourself, underweight or overweight, healthy or unhealthy, rich or poor, you can take comfort in the fact that Somebody loved you so much, He died for you.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that all who believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3: 16
