Tell Others What You Are Thankful For

Thanksgiving Day is almost here. One of the traditions in celebrating this day is for each person around the dinner table to say what they are thankful for. That is a good habit, but we don’t have to wait for Thanksgiving Day, especially since this year we may not be gathering with friends and relatives. We can tell others now about the simple little things that happen to us unexpectedly. Maybe someone allowed you to go ahead of them in traffic; or your boss praised you for something you did; or, your child’s teacher complimented you for raising a well-behaved child. Whatever it is, we should not keep it to ourselves. We should tell others because this pleases God.

Each one of us has a story to tell. It might be something significant: For example, last week my daughter had major surgery to remove a very large fibroid. She is doing much better now and the whole family is so thankful to God. Perhaps you went through a difficult divorce and God gave you the strength to keep going. Maybe you were dealing with a hostile co-worker and God helped you through it. Or maybe, your glucose readings have been normal for the past three days.

Whether you have overcome a serious difficulty or you are still struggling with it, you can still use the experience as a way to praise Him. Let the people around you know how God has worked or is working on your behalf. You will be amazed how much better it will make you feel.

God, help me to share the story of what You’ve done in my life. Give me the courage to speak up on Your behalf and praise You, even if my story is still unfinished
