About Me

My name is Angela Joseph and I was born in the beautiful twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Growing up I had no desire or interest in healthcare. In fact, I loathed anything to do with hospitals and doctors’ offices. My dream was to become a journalist and writer, sit by a window and spend all my days writing – and dreaming. But reality does have a way of catching up with you, doesn’t it? By the time I graduated from high school, I had decided to go the “safe route” and do what most of my classmates had done – become a school teacher, a nurse or go into the government service. I chose to become a teacher.

All too soon, I found myself married with children, and there went my dream of ever becoming a writer. Years later, I migrated to the US and expected to continue my teaching career.  However, that  entailed going back to school. I didn’t mind that – I always loved studying – but I figured if I had to go back to school, why not learn something new? On the advice of my college counselor, I chose occupational therapy, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I am a licensed occupational therapist with eighteen years experience working in hospitals, nursing homes and schools. I have worked with patients suffering from physical as well as behavioral disabilities, and have facilitated groups for people suffering from addictions and mental disorders.

With healthcare costs on the rise, it makes good economic sense to try to ward off illness as much as possible. In occupational therapy, our goal is to give you the tools to help you return to your prior level of functioning. As a health coach, I give you the tools to help you achieve SMART goals so you can look and feel your best.

I am a firm believer that we were created – not evolved – by a loving God who wants us to be healthy,  therefore He gave us principles to live by. When we violate those principles by not taking proper care of our body temple, we reap the rewards. I am not saying that every illness is a result of this, but sometimes it can be.

But the good thing is, God has given man the wisdom to help bring about healing. I am not one of those holistic healers who tell you to stop taking your medicine. I will give you scripture verses and pray with you only if you ask me to, and I will advise you to see a doctor or other healthcare professional if I think you need to.
